Privacy policy
Privacy, in plain words.
The short version
We use your meals, photos and body numbers only to give you calories, macros and your plan. We don’t sell your data and we don’t use it for ads. You can export or delete everything in the app.
Who we are
Yummify (“we”, “us”) makes the Yummify app for iPhone, iPad and Android and runs yummify.it. Questions about your data go to support@yummify.it.
What we collect
What you tell us. Your email and name (or what Apple or Google share when you sign in with them), and the answers that build your plan: goal, sex, age, height, weight, activity, diet, allergies, foods you avoid and favorite cuisines. If you choose to, also your body fat % and health details that change your plan or fasting, such as pregnancy or certain medicines.
What you log. Meals with their ingredients, grams, calories and macros, meal descriptions you type or say, weights, the water you drink, your fasts, weekly check-ins, saved recipes, your shopping list and your settings.
Photos. Meal photos stay on your phone. When you scan a plate, the photo is sent to our server only to estimate what is on it. We don’t keep the photo after the estimate comes back. While the camera is open, your phone itself checks whether a plate is in view and how close it is, so it can guide you and take the photo at the right moment. This check runs on your phone without the internet, and the camera view never leaves it.
Health data, only if you allow it. With Apple Health or Health Connect turned on, Yummify can read steps, active energy and weight, and write the meals you log. You can switch this off at any time in the app or in your phone’s settings. Health data is never used for advertising.
Purchases. Apple or Google handle payment. We receive your subscription status (for example, trial or active) through RevenueCat, never your card details.
App and device data. Device type, operating system, app version, language, crash reports and how the app is used (for example, which screens open and whether a scan worked). This helps us fix problems and improve the app.
The website. yummify.it uses Plausible Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without personal data.
How we use it
- To estimate your meals, build your plan and adjust it each week.
- To keep your data in sync across your devices and keep your account secure.
- To send the emails you need (sign-in, password reset, account changes) and, only if you said yes, tips and offers. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
- To fix bugs, prevent abuse and improve Yummify.
Yummify gives estimates, not medical advice.
Photos and AI
To estimate a photo or a description, our server sends it to Google’s Gemini AI, which returns foods and grams. Google processes it on our behalf to give us the answer. Your name and email are not sent with it.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell or rent your data. We use a few services that work for us and only for the purposes above:
- Amazon Web Services (servers and storage, United States)
- Google (Gemini AI for estimates; Firebase for crash reports, app analytics and notifications; Google sign-in)
- Google ML Kit (the plate check in the camera on Android; Google gets no images, only technical diagnostics such as device model and app version)
- Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store payments, Apple Health on your device)
- RevenueCat (subscription status)
- Resend (sending emails)
- Plausible Analytics (website visit counts, no cookies)
We may also share data when the law requires it, or to protect our users and our service.
Where your data lives
Our servers are in the United States. When data moves there from other countries, we rely on the safeguards the law requires, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, plan, meals, weights, water and fasting history and settings from our servers, and your sign-in stops working on every device. Copies in our server backups are overwritten within 7 days. Messages you sent us (feedback or support) are kept without a link to your account so we can follow up; ask us and we delete them too. Your purchase records are held by Apple or Google, under their own rules.
Your rights
You can see and change your data in the app, export it (Profile › Account › Export my data), and delete your account (Profile › Account › Delete account, or at yummify.it/delete). Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, to object to or restrict some uses, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to support@yummify.it and we answer within 30 days.
Children
Yummify is for people aged 16 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you think someone under 16 has given us data, write to us and we delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we tell you in the app or by email before it applies.
